KCAA OPEN PLAY vs. MIL-SIM game/event guidelines.

OPEN PLAY:

Open play games will be the familiar, loosely structured games that allow new players to participate. Teams will normally be separated by uniform (see guidelines) but no weapons or gear restrictions. HI-CAP mags are allowed. These games will normally be short duration scenarios with a lunch break in the middle.

KCAA Mil-sim events will be broken down by the ‘skill’ level required to participate.

LEVEL 1:

L1 events will be single day, military themed events based on small unit military operations. L1 scenarios will be written to allow for walk-on/guest players and can be adjusted as needed to fit the number of players present.
L1 events will be primarily force on force with some minor role-playing and mission specific tasks thrown in to provide some depth. New players may participate, but some individual combat skills will definitely be helpful.
Uniform and weapons selections may be similar to open play, but HI-CAP mags will not be allowed except for dedicated LMG’s. Players are encouraged to try and achieve a proper military uniform and appearance for these events, but it is not required.
Players will be expected to operate away from the staging area for up to 8 hours without an extended break.

LEVEL 2:

L2 events may be one or two day events depending on the scenario and number of players that have signed up. These events may be planned and conducted with the aid and cooperation of other organizations outside of the KCAA.
All L2 events will be RSVP with pre-assigned teams.
Uniform and weapon restrictions will be applied, but some MINOR exceptions may be made by the game planners/admin staff on a case by case basis. Load bearing gear is also not required to be specific for the scenario, but players are encouraged to try for ‘the look’ as much as possible. The goal is to simulate a military organization in combat, not a ragged band of peasants.
Players will need to be self sufficient for the duration of the event with breaks taken only as part of the scenario. These will not be ‘total immersion’ events, but players will be tasked with role-playing and military oriented tasks. Civilian packs and tents will be allowed in the staging/ camping area’s, but not on the field during game play.

LEVEL 3:

L3 events will be longer duration, scripted and themed events such as the Operation Eastwind games that Alan Swayze puts on and many players are familiar with.
They will be set to portray a very specific event or location and all uniforms and equipment must be specific to that timeframe.
These are total immersion events that will require all players to conform to a strict military rank structure, uniform and weapons restrictions as part of the event. These events will simulate life in an actual military organization operating in the field and many non-combat tasks will be performed as part of these scenarios. These events can be from 2-7 days in length and would require players to be self sufficient with minimal re-supply from the outside for at least 3 days. All L3 games are RSVP only with pre-assigned teams and are not to be considered traditional airsoft events. Role playing and advanced military problem solving are key elements of these type events and prior military service/training are beneficial but not required. The KCAA is highly unlikey to host a Level 3 event
